A multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse mental health care practice, the values of Acceptance, Diversity & Inclusion underpin our business, with everyone in the company sharing a strong passion for facilitating transformational positive change in people’s lives.
Centre for Human Potential has provided quality Brisbane counselling and coaching to clients and organisations since 2007. Founded by Brian Becken.
Through years of quality mental health care, we have developed trust, respect and a strong reputation among doctors and other specialists across Brisbane. Having contributed to the awareness of mental health issues in the media and politics, we are passionate about mental and emotional health and wellbeing, human rights and the community.
Founded on the values of Acceptance, Diversity & Inclusion, Centre for Human Potential are advocates for human rights, mental health, and marriage equality.
We have been active in the community in many ways including
- When it was first made available educated doctors on using Prep, for people exposed to HIV
- 2011-2012, lobbying Parliament for same sex marriage , educating politicians on negative effects on mental health of excluding gay and lesbians from marriage
- Worked with various PHNs to provide support to the community
- In 2018 -2020 was the lead organization for the National Suicide Prevention Trial and in subsequent years (ends Dec 2022) a service provider.
- Developed gender affirming programs for ages 12-16, 17 + persons considering / transitioning, and a general monthly drop in support group for those who have transitioned
- Have contributed to publications and groups including QNews, SameSame, PFlag and Freedom2b.

Providing treatment for people of all ages and backgrounds and with a variety of problems, we are able to facilitate coordinated, tailored behavioural health care from from either of Brisbane CBD (Level 8, 288 Edward street) or South Brisbane (154 Ipswich Road, Woolloongabba) locations.
All Centre for Human Potential psychologists are registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), giving you peace of mind that you are working with a team of industry-recognised professionals.
Our therapists are trained in a range of focused psychological and psychoanalytical techniques, including Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical, and interpersonal modes of treatment.
Our Admin Team
Our Receptionists are warm and welcoming. Like all of the staff at Centre for Human Potential, they have been selected for their genuine caring nature and professionalism, including their commitment to confidentiality. We also have Intake Coordinators who deal with new clients.
They will answer any questions you may have about what to expect when you attend our centre and they will assist you to select the service that can provide the support you are looking for. They will provide compassionate responses to your questions, answering enquiries clearly and effectively, our Admin team do what they can to make sure your experience in our Brisbane or South Side office is as comfortable as possible. Talk to them if ever you need an online psychologist, and they will help you arrange a session.
